Thou art my rock and my fortress.
Deliver me, O my God out of the hand of the wicked,
out of the hand of the unrighteous and cruel man.

CCW: Concepts

8 Hour Course
Topic: This class is designed to fill the gap between the classroom to the street. It is very common to assume that we are ready to "rock n roll" once we've gone through a basic CCW course and gotten our permit. The unfortunate reality is that there is a huge gulf between being permitted to carry a weapon and having the ability to use a weapon. There is an entire skill set that has to be developed around the draw and effective use of the weapon. Let's face it; we will never be attacked by a paper target standing in the middle of a field with nothing else around to hurt if we possibly miss our mark.
You will be drawing and shooting from the holster. You will perform malfunction clearances, speed reloads, tactical reloads. You will learn some basic principles in the use of cover and concealment, hostile threat identification, and multiple target considerations. You will also be shooting from multiple positions and shooting on the move. This course employs a variety of drills, all designed to develop basic gun-handling and battle skills, helping you get effective shots on target.
We will discuss different holster types and models, looking into their pros and cons.
Guestions to consider:
-The "one shot stop." Does it exist?
-Can I shoot to wound?
-What about warning shots?
-Why can't I count on a double-tap?
-How close is "too close?"
-Pistol types and effective self-defense ammo. What does the evidence show?
-Environmental awareness.
-Dealing with a pistol malfunctions.
-Alternative shooting positions.
-Why do I have to develope a survival mind set?
-What if I have multiple threats?
We will go through shooting drills covering marksmanship, speed, and instincts.
Psychological / sociological effects and legal concerns of the aftermath (NOTE: This segment is not a substitute for professional legal advise!!)

Topic: From pumps, to autos, and even granpa's "bird-getter," everyone respects the awesome power of the "scatter gun."
You'll learn the real world use of the shotgun and discover it's surprising effectiveness in close range engagement. You will appreciate how simple and destructive this platform really is.
For whatever reason there has been a new mystique about the shotgun, probably considering some of the popular institutes out there trying to invent extra material to they have something to sell. You may have heard that the shotgun is very versatile because there are different types of rounds for it. The hard truth is; The shotgun is NOT versatile by any means!!
It's a shotgun, lets learn to use it as one.
It is NOT a rifle so why would we try to use it as one?? After doing a search for cases in which changing buck shot out for a slug round determined to outcome of a gun battle we were only able to fine ONE such case in 20 years!! An officer had to take somebody down through a barricade. That was it, ONE case. We will go over use of slug change outs and you will be aloud to judge the practicality of such a technique for yourselves.
Practically speaking; Are you truly in a self-defense situation when you would have to employ such a technique?? Remember, you have to be able to articulate to a court of law why you felt it necessary to use the level of force you've chosen to defend yourself in any given situation...
You will learn how to "pattern" your shots. We will engage targets while on the move. Shoulder transfers and weapon transitions will also be incorporated into this class so you will need a sidearm. We will even examine the idea of the use of a shotgun in a hostage situation and you will decide for yourselves if it's really a valid option.
We bust A LOT of myths in this class and get right down to the nuts n bolts of fighting with a scatter gun.
